CHANCELLOR DAVIS AT ABAC APRIL 25

 

TIFTON - Erroll B. Davis, Jr., Chancellor of the University System of Georgia will visit the campus of Abraham Baldwin College on April 25 as part of his tour of all 35 colleges and universities in the state.

Davis will appear at a reception open to all students, faculty, staff and the community from 11 a.m. – noon in the Donaldson Dining Hall.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pen., Davis took office on Feb. 6, having served as chairman of the board of Madison, Wis., based Alliant Energy Corporation since 2000. He retired from his dual roles as president and CEO of Alliant in July 2005 and retained the chairman’s post until his move to the University System.

He served as president and CEO of WPL Holdings from 1990 – 1998. From 1979 – 1990, he worked his way through the ranks at Wisconsin Power and Light Company. He has also held corporate finance positions at Xerox Corporation and Ford Motor Company.

Davis earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in electrical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1965 and a Master’s of Business Administration in finance from the University of Chicago in 1967. He and his wife, Elaine, established the Davis Family Foundation, which makes annual grants to numerous students in need.

He is on the U.S Olympic Committee Board as chair of the Audit Committee. He has also been recognized as one of the “75 Most Powerful Blacks in Corporate America” by Black Enterprise Magazine.

Davis served as a member of the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents from 1987 – 1994. He presently serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago.
