FORMER ABAC STUDENT COMPETES IN REALITY SHOW

TIFTON - Aaron Young, a former Abraham Baldwin College student from Fitzgerald who is attending the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia, was chosen to compete in a new reality show from MTV called “Quad Squads” on mtvU. It’s a part of a cable plan provided on campuses.

Young, along with three UGA classmates, will compete against Georgia Tech students to create the best marketing campaign for Amp’d Mobile. Amp’d Mobile is a new phone company whose services give customers access to broadband and allows them to watch anything from ESPN to Comedy Central on their cell phones.

“We realized it was a really high-tech product in a market that is almost impossible to penetrate,” Young said.

The teams have six weeks and $2,500 to develop an ad campaign. The students will be judged on the originality and content of their pitch, the creativity and production value of their presentation and the resourcefulness and initiative of the team.

The payoff for this challenge is a $1,000 scholarship each, a free trip to mtvU’s spring break 2006, an Amp’d Mobile phone with a year of free services, and possibly using the winning team’s concept as a part of its product launch. The show will air in three condensed episodes, each about five minutes long.                                                                                                                         ###
