MONK SELECTED AS PEOPLE’S CHOICE WINNER AT MS. ABAC 2006

TIFTON—Amanda Monk of Dallas was selected as the People’s Choice winner in the 37th annual Ms. ABAC event at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Sixty-one ABAC students participated in the pageant, which was sponsored by the Interactivities Council (IAC), the Student Government Association (SGA), and the Campus Activities Board (CAB).

Monk is a general business major. At ABAC, she is a member of the Political Science Club, which sponsored her in this competition.  She is the daughter of Terry and Melissa Monk.

Melissa Maher, an animal science major from Snellville, was selected as Ms. ABAC 2006. Other finalists were Hailey Duke, first runner-up, a business administration major from Moultrie; Megan Brannen, second runner-up, an animal science major from Statesboro; Meredith Carey, third runner-up, an agricultural education major from Royston; and Anna Daniel, fourth runner-up, a biology major from Jackson.

Carla Dean, a pre-veterinary medicine major from Bainbridge was named Miss Congeniality. Duke won the interview portion of the contest, and Brannen won the essay portion of the competition.

Contestants were sponsored by campus groups, including clubs, residence halls, athletic teams, and student media.
