CAREY SELECTED AS THIRD RUNNER-UP IN MS. ABAC 2006

TIFTON—Meredith Carey of Royston was selected as the third runner-up in the 37th annual Ms. ABAC event at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Sixty-one ABAC students participated in the pageant, which was sponsored by the Interactivities Council (IAC), the Student Government Association (SGA), and the Campus Activities Board (CAB).

Carey is an agricultural education major. She was sponsored by the ABAC Interactivities Council. At ABAC, she serves as a Student Government Association senator, is vice-president of the Interactivities Council, and is a member of FFA and GAESP. She is the daughter of Brent and Gail Carey.

Melissa Maher, an animal science major from Snellville, was selected as Ms. ABAC 2006. Other finalists were Hailey Duke, first runner-up, a business administration major from Moultrie; Megan Brannen, second runner-up, an animal science major from Statesboro; and Anna Daniel, fourth runner-up, a biology major from Jackson.

Carla Dean, a pre-veterinary medicine major from Bainbridge was named Miss Congeniality, and Amanda Monk, a general business major from Dallas, received the People’s Choice award. Brannen won the essay portion of the competition, and Duke won the interview portion.

Contestants were sponsored by campus groups, including clubs, residence halls, athletic teams, and student media.
