MR. ABAC TO BE CHOSEN FEBRUARY 17

TIFTON--Twenty men attending Abraham Baldwin College will compete for the title of Mr. ABAC in the 15th annual competition on Feb. 17. The theme for this year’s event is “Hollywood Nights.” Sponsored, produced, and directed by the Family and Consumer Sciences Club, the event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Donaldson Dining Hall. The cost is $3 for general admission.

Contestants are sponsored by campus clubs, athletic teams, residence halls, and student media. They will compete in casual attire, formal attire, and interview categories. Contestants will also be judged on a written timed essay. The top contestant will receive a plaque and a cash prize. A contestant’s award will also be given. The recipient of this award is chosen by the other contestants. The Family and Consumer Sciences Club members will choose “Mr. Photogenic,” “Best Eyes,” “Best Smile,” and other awards.

            Dotty Davis, from K-Country 104.5, and John Baldwin will emcee the event. Entertainment will be provided by Devon Fleming, Miss Historic First City and former ABAC student. Family and Consumer Sciences Club President Jessica Landmon of Baxley will present the award to Mr. ABAC 2004. Last year’s winner was Samuel McGaughey, an animal science/herd health major from Lakemont.

            Students involved in this year’s competition include Daniel Alamo, a computer science major from Fitzgerald; Vikash Amin, a physician assistant major from Peachtree City; Elton Baldy, an agriculture education major from Norman Park; Jeffrey Barksdale, a secondary education major from Conyers; Jesse Bolton, an agricultural and environmental science major from Dawson; Brent Brock, a biology major from Arabi; John Gibbs, a secondary education major from Tifton.; Bradley Hall, a pre-veterinary major from Pavo; Chase Hemphill, a wildlife technology major from Blairsville; William Herringdine, a pre-veterinary major from Carrollton; Ben Hutchens, a business administration major from Cordele; Bradley Lowe,  a pre-medicine major from Reynolds; Michael Maynard, an agricultural education major from Byron; and Marcus McGee, a political science major from Adel.


            Also competing are Jesse McMillan, a pre-dentistry major from Enigma; Marshall Musgrove, an agriculture education major from Norman Park; Will Rineair, an agriculture education major from Fitzgerald; Nathan Roberts, a wildlife technology major from Fairmount; Jeremy Rogers, an undeclared major from Watkinsville; and Neal Torley, IV, a landscape design major from Orange Park, Fla.
