ABAC
INSTRUCTOR RECEIVES FACS ALUMNI AWARD
TIFTON
– Darby Thompson Sewell from
Sewell,
who earned her bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences from UGA in
2000 and her master’s degree in family and consumer sciences education in 2001,
teaches all Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) classes offered at
Sewell
attended ABAC from 1996 – 1998. As a student, she was active in Baptist Student
Union and served as an ABAC Ambassador.

nomination by a former student, Sewell “is an inspiration to all that cross her
path. Mrs. Sewell enters her office every morning with a smile and a presence
that reflect the positive attitude that she radiates throughout the day.”
In addition to her
teaching duties, Sewell recruits new students to her program by visiting high
schools with FACS departments, attending career fairs and hosting high school
visits. As the only teacher in her department at ABAC she oversees all the
preparation, teaching, grading and counseling for each of the 17 classes for
which she is responsible.
Sewell joined the ABAC faculty
in 2002 as Instructor of Family and Consumer Sciences.
