CORPORATE EDUCATION CENTER TO OPEN IN DOWNTOWN TIFTON

TIFTON- The Public Service and Business Outreach Center at Abraham Baldwin College is opening a Corporate Education Center in downtown Tifton at the Tiftarea Workforce Center this month.

The expansion is geared to local employers to provide for the education and professional development needs of employees. Last year, 1, 900 participants took advantage of the services available at the Tiftarea Workforce Center. Customized contract classes can be scheduled through the Corporate Education Center.

The Corporate Education Center offers training opportunities locally, benefiting Tift and surrounding counties. Local training eliminates the cost of out-of-town travel for area companies.

Lisa Forshee, ABAC Liaison for the Tiftarea Workforce Center, said, “The Corporate Education Center was established to increase ABAC’s services to business and industry within the community.”

An advisory board comprised of local business and industry leaders will meet each quarter to determine class selection and what training is needed. The first class that the Corporate Education Center will offer is Professionalism: Gaining That Extra Edge on Jan. 19 from 2 – 5 p.m. All classes will be held at the Tiftarea Workforce Center or on the campus of ABAC.

Other classes scheduled include Introduction to Computer, E-mail, and Internet; Managing Problem Employees and Difficult Supervisory Situations; How to Get People to Pay; Interviewing 101; Spanish for Requesting Personal Information and Data; Oral and Written Communication; Effective Supervision 101; and Motivating and Retaining Great Employees. Contact the Public Service and Business Outreach Center for dates and times.

Businesses that register four employees can register a fifth employee for free. This offer does not include any required text needed for class. Interested businesses can contact Forshee at (229) 386-3016 or at the Public Service and Business Outreach Center at (229) 391-5070.
