“We are proud of one of our signature buildings being recognized as a national model for educational design,” ABAC Interim President Tom Call said.
The design is featured in the institution’s Architectural Portfolio for the 2004 year. The annual publication honors educational design excellence. The Ag Sciences Building is one of 258 projects listed in the publication.
The 38,669 square feet, $7.1 million dollar project was designed by the firm of Yielding, Wakeford, and McGee Architects, PC Kent McClure was Principal-in-Charge of the design.
In considering projects for publication, specific characteristics including innovation; program/building; organization; meaningfulness, representation; and design continuity and balance were evaluated. Significance was placed on features that would facilitate advancements in research and teaching methods.
The building houses seven classrooms, including a distance learning classroom, five general labs, two computer labs, and an outdoor animal science lab.
The building opened in January 2004.
