GOIZUETA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED AT ABAC

 

TIFTON Ernesto Ortiz Ariza, Daniel Andres Alamo Segura, and Pedro Perez are the recipients of The Goizueta Foundation Scholars Fund Scholarship at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College for the 2005-2006 academic year.

Ortiz Ariza, originally from Mexico City, Mexico, moved to Tifton in 1995 and graduated from Tift County High School. He was a member of the Beta Club and Y Club, as well as serving in the Model United Nations as Director General. He was also recognized as the 2004 Georgia Migrant Education Honor Graduate at the State Board of Education Meeting in Atlanta.

Ortiz Ariza is a Political Science/Law major at ABAC. He is also a member of the ABAC Ambassadors. He was selected as the recipient of the Distinguished Ambassador award this year.

Alamo Segura is originally from Caracas, Venezuela and moved to Fitzgerald in 1999. There he attended Bowens Mill Christian Center, a community school in Fitzgerald. While attending this school, Alamo Segura mentored children and helped with music programs in the community. He is majoring in Computer Science at ABAC.

Perez is originally from Queretaro, Mexico and moved to Moultrie in 1996. He is a 2004 Colquitt County High School graduate and received the Rotary Club of Moultrie Scholarship.

Perez is an engineering major who is a member of the ABAC Honors Program and was named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges.

He is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society; Vice President of the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) Cultura Latina Club; Treasurer of the ABAC Honors Club; and Public Relations Director of the Political Science Club.

The Goizueta Foundation was established to provide financial assistance to educational and charitable institutions by Roberto C. Goizueta. The Goizueta Foundation is a private, general purpose, grant-making foundation whose mission is to assist organizations that empower individuals and families through educational opportunities to improve the quality of their lives.

To be eligible to receive The Goizueta Foundation Scholars Fund Scholarship, a student must be Hispanic/Latino, accepted to ABAC with a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher, able to demonstrate financial need, and reside in the United States.
