                                  RAYNOR CITED FOR TOP ACADEMIC HONOR

TIFTON--Jennifer Raynor of Fitzgerald was named the top academic student at Abraham Baldwin College during Wednesday=s Honors Day Ceremony. Raynor received the J. G. Woodroof Scholar Award given annually to the ABAC student who is recognized in a proclamation by the Georgia General Assembly. Woodroof was president of ABAC from 1933 - 34.                         

Raynor, a nursing major, has a perfect 4.0 grade point average and was on the President’s List during the Fall 2002, Spring 2003, and Fall 2003, and Spring 2004 semesters. She has made the Dean’s List consistently, is a Superior Honor Student and secretary of the ABAC Ambassador. “It was a humbling and surprising honor to receive the award”, she commented.

Raynor, the daughter of Tim and Sharron Raynor, will transfer to the Medical College of Georgia in the Fall of 2004. There she will receive a Bachelors of Science in Nursing as an R.N.

Eight other Divisional Awards of Distinction were presented to the students with the greatest overall positive impact in each division, both academically and through college service.                           Kathryn A. Murray of Moultrie received the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources Divisional Award of Distinction. Robert B. Blodgett of Griffin received the Award of Distinction for the Division of Business Administration. Suzanne D. Boyd of Tifton received the Award of Distinction for the Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. Christina Kidd received the Award of Distinction for the Division of Science and Mathematics.

 Amy L. Hughes of Manor received the Award of Distinction for the Division of Social Science. The Cooperative Degree Award went to Lawton D. Lovett of Fitzgerald. Lovett is pursuing a career in Computer Information Systems. This award is presented to a student who successfully completes work in a joint degree program from a technical college and at ABAC.

                            A total of 36 Divisional Discipline awards were presented to students who excelled in

their disciplines.

Robert J. Upton of Ocilla received the Agricultural Engineering Technology award. The Agricultural Engineering Transfer award went to Jason D. Morris of Stockbridge. LeeAnne T.  Auldridge of Odum received the Agriculture Transfer award. The Animal Science Technology award went to Kara R. Davis of Woodbine.

Benjamin R. Harris of Lenox received the Environmental Horticulture Technology--Landscape Design and Grounds Management award. The Environmental Horticulture

Technology—Golf Clubhouse Management was awarded to Brandi N. Harpe of Albany. Dana L. Musslewhite of Fitzgerald received the Environmental Horticulture Technology--Ornamental Production award. The Environmental Horticulture Technology--Golf Turf Management award went to Christopher R. Pierce of Hartwell.

Jason W. Carey of McDonough received the Forest Resources Transfer award. The Forest Technology award went to William C. Faith of Conyers. Laura V. Bland of Tifton received the Family and Consumer Sciences Transfer award. The Family and Consumer Sciences Technology award went to Allison R. Boyle of Valdosta. The Wildlife Technology award went to Kerry L. Holcomb of Ball Ground.

The Divisional Discipline Award in Business Administration went to Kathryn G. Rayl of Fitzgerald. The Information Technology award was received by Melanie T. Johnson of Moultrie. The Information Technology Transfer award went to Luther W. Hampton of Moultrie. The General Business award went to James D. Whitener, III of Kennesaw. Tiffany H. Hall of Moultrie was the recipient of the Economics award. The Management and Marketing award went to Kevin J. Jones of Sylvester.

In Humanities, the Divisional Discipline award in Art was received by Georgia A. Barfield of Ty Ty. The Journalism award went to Joe S. Childs of Doerun. The Spanish award went to Michele I. Oliver of Tifton. The Theatre award went Victoria E. Ledbetter of Tifton.

In the Division of Science and Mathematics, the Divisional Discipline award in Biology was received by Mieko A. Camp of Ocilla. Mark A. Niday of Fitzgerald received the Chemistry award. The Physics award went to Jason D. Morris of Stockbridge. Ben A. Thomas of Tifton received the Mathematics award. The Allied Health award went to Kristy R. Shiver of Sylvester and Chad E. Ward of Tifton.

Social Science Divisional Discipline Awards went to Heather M. Futch of Sparks in Behavioral Science; Audie C. Rowe of Adel in Criminal Justice; and Minne W. Nyutu of Nairoi, Kenya in Early Childhood/Middle Grades Education. Crystal E. Copeland of Tifton received the History award. The Human Services Technology award went to Deborah T. Benson of Tifton. The Human Services Transfer award went to Rayfred P. Evans of Moultrie. Jill M. Clark of Moultrie received the P-12/Secondary Education award. The Political Science award went to Matthew B. Martin of Tifton.
