ABAC’S SGAE CHAPTER HONORED

The Student Georgia Association of Educators (SGAE) chapter at Abraham Baldwin College recently received top honors at the annual Georgia Association of Educators Student Program Conference.

ABAC students who attended the conference included Stephanie Roberts of Enigma, Wanda McCurdy of Sycamore, Alicia Osorio of Cedartown, Alicia Poarch of Jonesboro, Ben Kennedy of Collins, Willie Allen of Albany, Amanda Maze of Moultrie, Hannah Morgan of Tifton, Sara McKellar of Moultrie, and Tricia Williams of Oxford.

Using the theme “Acceleration to Education,” SGAE members designed a display, prepared a scrapbook, and gave a presentation to those attending the conference. The presentation, in which ABAC competed with four-year schools, such as Augusta State University, Berry College, and Clark Atlanta University, highlighted SGAE activities that members have participated in throughout the school year. Activities included the Adopt-a-Mile trash pickup, a child abuse prevention puppet show for third graders, a celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday, the promotion of Autism Awareness month, and participation in community workshops and health fairs.
