ABAC EMPLOYEES RECEIVE SERVICE AWARDS

Three retirees with a combined 75 years of service were the top honorees at the recent service awards ceremony at Abraham Baldwin College.

Faculty and staff members who have already or will soon retire include Dennis Bush, Dr. Jerry B. Davis, and Hubert Wood. Bush, associate professor in the Division of Social Science, will retire in August with 31 years of service to the college. Davis, a professor in the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources, will retire in June with 16 years of service. Wood, Director of Human Resources, retired in March after 28 years of service to ABAC.

Wasdon Graydon, Jr., Interim Director of the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) and the High School Equivalency Program (HEP); Emory R. Johnson, manager of the ABAC Bookstore; and Barbara W. Wood, administrative assistant in the Office of Student and Enrollment Services; each received 30-year service plaques.

Employees who received 25-year service plaques were Melvin L. Merrill, Director of Development; Janice L. Payne, senior secretary in the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources; and Dr. Ed D. Seagle, professor in the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources.

Arlene Bailey, a mail clerk in the ABAC Post Office; Bobbie Baldree, administrative assistant in the Office of Development; Charles E. Griffin, a carpenter in the Physical Plant; Lyn C. Smith, Assistant Director in the Financial Aid Office; and Duane Weeks, an electrician in the Physical Plant; each received 20-year service plaques.

Receiving 15-year service certificates were Paul W. Miller, assistant professor in the Division of Business Administration; Barbara S. Snyder, secretary in the ABAC Bookstore; Ray L. Wells, equipment manager in the Division of Heath, Physical Education, and Recreation; and Floyd E. Wright, Vice President of Fiscal Affairs.

Ten-year service certificates were presented to Terry Clark, warehouse supervisor in the Physical Plant; Michael J. Curry, associate professor in the Division of Science and Mathematics; Jerry Jay Edwards, assistant professor in the Division of Science and Mathematics; James O. Felton, horticulture technician in the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources; James Alton Hudgins, women’s tennis coach; David Edward Keller, a groundskeeper in the Physical Plant; Alan Maurice Kramer, Athletics Director and men’s tennis coach; Dr. Donna E. Miller, Director of Research and Planning; Alice Virginia Ray, assistant professor in the Division of Nursing; Elizabeth M. Saxon, Registrar; and Vickie L. Walker, assistant professor in the Division of Humanities.

Receiving five-year service certificates were Kim T. Ascani, Interim Coordinator of the Academic Assistance Center (AAC); Curtis D. Billings, a locksmith in the Physical Plant; Jo Ann Brannen, assistant professor in the Division of Business Administration; Nancy M. Brannen, senior secretary in the Division of Science and Mathematics; Brenda N. Doss, senior secretary in Student Support Services/TRIO Programs, and Minority Advising; Yolanda Emery, instructor in the Division of Humanities; Dr. John G. Galyean, assistant professor in the Division of Humanities; Sandra R. Grimsley, a payroll assistant in the Business Office; Jenelle L. Handcox, Director of Financial Aid; Rebecca A. Harnage, financial aid advisor; Linda B. Horton, part-time Post-Secondary Readiness Enrichment Program (PREP) Assistant; and Bernice Hughes, Director of Student Life and Housing.

Other recipients of five-year certificates included Sheila Hughes, an assistant professor in the Division of Humanities; Kirby Ireland, a plumber in the Physical Plant; Phyllis Kester, senior secretary in the Office of Learning Support; Donna T. King, an accounting clerk in the Business Office; Shawn H. McRae, a public safety officer; Steve D. Moore, trades helper in the Physical Plant; Angela C. Palmer, Director of Admissions; Kay D. Powell, assistant professor and Director of ABAC on the Square in Moultrie; Melanie A. Robertson, assistant professor in the Division of Science and Mathematics; Dina L. Willis, senior secretary in the Baldwin Library; and Ja’Nay Windmoller, Housing Coordinator in the Office of Student Life and Housing.
