ABAC STUDENTS ATTEND JAZZ CONFERENCE

Two Abraham Baldwin College students from Tifton recently attended the 30th annual International Association of Jazz Education (IAJE) Conference in Toronto, Canada.

Nguyen Ly and Hallie Cantlebary, both members of the ABAC Jazz Band, attended concerts, exhibits, and seminars held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel and the Metro Toronto Convention Center. They had an opportunity to watch performances by professional jazz bands, college bands, and high school bands. Nguyen and Cantlebary also participated in “jam sessions,” in which students from all over the world sign up for a session and are able to play in a band.

The IAJE conference is the largest gathering of jazz educators, musicians, students, and media, with over 8,000 members.
