DORMINEY TO SPEAK AT ABAC GRADUATION MAY 8

            Jeanine Dorminey, the J.G. Woodroof Scholar at Abraham Baldwin College, will be the guest speaker at ABAC’s spring graduation ceremony at 6 p.m. on May 8 in Gressette Gym.

            Approximately 124 graduates are expected to participate in the ceremony, which will be led by ABAC President Mike Vollmer. Interim Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs Caroline Helms will present the degree candidates, and ABAC Alumni Association President Beth English will induct the graduates into the ranks of the alumni. Vollmer will present the George P. Donaldson Award to one of the top graduates. The award is named for the ABAC president who served from 1947-61. 

            Dorminey has a perfect 4.0 grade point average at the college and was a member of the ABAC women’s basketball team, which captured a school record 21 victories this season. She is a Tift County High School graduate who will graduate with honors from the college on Thursday. The Woodroof Scholar Award is presented annually to the top ABAC academic student who is recognized in a proclamation by the Georgia General Assembly. Woodroof was president of ABAC from 1933-34.

             Dorminey is a mathematics major who also received the Divisional Award for Distinction and the Mathematics Divisional Discipline Award at the college’s Honors Day ceremony in April.  She received All-Conference Honorable Mention for the 2002-03 basketball season.  Dorminey is the daughter of Edd and Janice Dorminey of Tifton.
