EDUCATION AT ABAC TOPS IN STATE
The 2002 annual report from the Board
of Regents of the University System of Georgia on Continuing Education Unit
(CEU) Activities indicates that

of ABAC’s Public Service and Business Outreach Center (PSBOC), a total of
19,419 people participated in 1,629 continuing education programs at ABAC last
year.
In terms of programs offered, ABAC
ranks third in the state among all 34 institutions in the University System of

education program here at ABAC is to provide expertise and continuous learning
opportunities for personal development, professional growth, and
The PSBOC offers courses and
workshops in professional development, computer training, physical improvement,
and personal enrichment. Also offered are “co-listed” courses--college credit
courses offered on a space available basis for CEU credit only. The PSBOC
offers these non-credit co-listed classes in the Business, Humanities, and
Health and Physical Education divisions.
Non-credit certificate programs are
also popular. The PSBOC now has certificates in floral design, human resource
management, landscape, management, Microsoft Office, photography, small business
success, and web page design and also offers over 200 on-line classes.
“These classes provide an opportunity
to update professional skills, prepare for finding a job and job promotions,
improve personal life, and learn new skills for more enjoyment of leisure
time,” Kilgore said. “Courses are open to all interested members of the public.
There are no tests, no grades, and, as a general rule, no admission
requirements for classes and activities.”
