BALDWIN PLAYERS’ AUDITIONS SEPTEMBER 8 - 9 AT ABAC

The Baldwin Players of Abraham Baldwin College will hold auditions for the fall semester production of Genesis and Other Plays by Don Nigro on Sept. 8 - 9 at 7 p.m. in Conger Hall on the ABAC campus. Auditions will take place in Room 319 Conger on Sept. 8 and in Room 317 Conger on Sept. 9.

Auditions are open to ABAC faculty, staff, and students as well as everyone in the Tiftarea. No previous experience in theatre is necessary. Samples of the script are available on three-hour loan from Dr. John Galyean, Associate Professor of Humanities and Director of Theatre at ABAC.

Anyone who would like to serve on a technical crew should attend one audition session to fill out a schedule form and work preference sheet. The production will be presented Nov. 6 - 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 319 in Conger Hall.

Genesis and Other Plays consists of six monologue plays. According to Galyean, the title piece is performed by Eve, contemplating life so far in the Garden. The next play focuses on Diogenes the Dog, an all but completely insane, obscene bum who speaks gibberish, filth, and a good deal of truth about the hapless state in which human beings find themselves. Another of the monologue plays features a girl obsessed with Frankenstein: the legend, the novel, and the monster who uses her obsession to make a value judgment about romantic commitment.

“I can barely explain how creative and, for lack of a better term, theatrical these plays are,” Galyean said. “Each is its own play and creates its own world; they are magnificently structured and are mesmerizing. The characters are unforgettable and will make a huge impression on the audience.”
