Genesis and Other Plays consists of six
monologue plays. According to Galyean, the title
piece is performed by Eve, contemplating life so far in the Garden. The next
play focuses on Diogenes the Dog, an all but completely insane, obscene bum who
speaks gibberish, filth, and a good deal of truth about the hapless state in
which human beings find themselves. Another of the monologue plays features a
girl obsessed with Frankenstein: the legend, the novel, and the monster who uses her obsession to make a value judgment about
romantic commitment.
“I
can barely explain how creative and, for lack of a better term, theatrical
these plays are,” Galyean said. “Each is its own play and creates its own
world; they are magnificently structured and are mesmerizing. The characters
are unforgettable and will make a huge impression on the audience.”
