ACE PROGRAM INFORMATION SESSION JANUARY 7
AT ABAC
A “Get Acquainted
Meeting” for anyone who is interested in learning more about the new Adult
College Entry (ACE) Program at Abraham Baldwin College will be held Jan. 7 from
The program, which focuses on learning opportunities for adults, provides a system of support services that will prepare adults for college entry and success.
Dr. Gail Dillard, ABAC’s Director of Evening and Off-Campus Programs, said the name for the new program was derived from two familiar expressions: “ace up your sleeve” and an “ace.”
“Someone who has an ‘ace up his/her sleeve’ has access to secret knowledge or skills they have not yet used,” Dillard said. “A person who is very skilled at something is often called an ‘ace.’ Through this program, adult learners will be able to play that ‘ace up their sleeve’ and become an ‘ace’ in the field of their choice.”
In the ACE Program, students will be with other adults who are also just starting college. They will learn valuable skills to help them succeed in college, including note taking, time management, and various study skills in a program tailored to their personal needs and goals.
“I strongly encourage any adults who are interested in attending college to come to this informal meeting,” Dillard said. “It’s an excellent opportunity to learn about the ACE Program, meet the people who will be working with students in the program, and hear from successful adult students, who will share their personal stories about their college experiences. Attending this meeting is an important first step for adults who want to reach their goal of a college education.”
For additional information about the ACE Program, contact Dillard at (229) 386-7154. Classes for the spring semester at ABAC begin Jan. 8.
