ABAC OFFERS TRIP TO LONDON, PARIS, & THE CHATEAUX
Anyone planning a vacation during the
summer of 2004 may be interested in the London, Paris, and Chateaux trip offered by Abraham Baldwin College’s Public Service & Business Outreach Center.
The trip is open to anyone who would
like to attend. A $95 non-refundable deposit reserves a place. Within 30 days
after the initial deposit, a minimum payment of $400 is due. The deadline for
full payment is March 15.
For more information about the trip
or to request an application, contact Debra McCrary, Office Manager in ABAC’s
Public Service & Business Outreach Center and coordinator of the trip, at
(229) 386-3267, or e-mail her at dmccrary@abac.edu.
The nine-day trip is a tour package
designed by CHA (Cultural Heritage Alliance) Educational Tours. Projected dates
of the trip are June 23 – July 1. SDU (Staff Development Unit) credit is
available. The total cost of the trip is approximately $2,538. The fee is based
on double occupancy for adult travelers and Atlanta departure.
During their stay, members of the
travel group will visit several famous places and landmarks in London, including Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Piccadilly Circus, No. 10 Downing Street, Kensington Palace, Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Buckingham Palace. Travelers will also visit Stonehenge and then board a ferry and cross the
channel to Northern
France.
In France, tourists can connect with American
history on the D-Day beaches, where Allied troops invaded occupied France during World War II. They will also visit the Arromanches Invasion Museum, the island of Mont St. Michel off the Normandy coast, the Loire Valley, with visits to Chenonceaux, and the
massive castle Chambord. En route to Paris, travelers will visit Gothic Chartres Cathedral and
King Louis XIV’s Versailles Palace.
Sightseeing tours in Paris will highlight the Place de l’opera,
the Place de la Concorde, the Champes-Elysees, with its massive Arc de
Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Louvre Museum.
“June of 2004 is a perfect time to visit the Normandy beaches because
this year marks the 60th anniversary of the D-Day invasion,” McCrary
said. “The opportunity to visit this site as well as other historic sites in France and England made
planning our 2004 trip fun and easy.”
The price for the trip covers
round-trip air transportation, seven nights’ accommodations in selected three
and four star hotels, the full-time services of a professional, multi-lingual
tour director, all on-tour transportation services, two meals daily (usually
breakfast and dinner), guided city sightseeing tours, walking tours as per
itinerary, and taxes.
Other ABAC trips have included visits
to Greece and the Greek Islands; London, Paris, and the Alps; Italy; England and Ireland; and England, Ireland, and Scotland. Last summer, ABAC sponsored a trip
to the Hawaiian
Islands.
