ABAC MUSICAL GROUPS TO PERFORM AT FALL PICNIC OCTOBER 9

A Fall Picnic Concert will be held on Abraham Baldwin College’s front lawn on Oct. 9 from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. The concert is open to anyone who would like to attend.

ABAC’s musical groups participating in the concert will include the Concert Band, Concert Choir, Jazz Band, Jazz Choir, Clarinet Quartet, and Saxophone Quartet.

The Concert Band, directed by Eugene Wyles, will perform “Brighton Beach,” “America the Beautiful” (accompanied by the Concert Choir), and “Anthem for Woodwinds and Percussion.”

The Jazz Band, directed by Don Coates, will perform “Samba De Amour,” “Windswept,” “Six by Six,” “Two Seconds to Midnight,” and “Body and Soul.”

Selections by the Jazz Choir, under the direction of Wayne Jones, include “Gettin’ in the Mood,” “Breathe,” “Flat Foot Floogee,” “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours),” “This Can’t Be Love,” “Cheek to Cheek,” and “Besame Mucho.”

Lunch will be available during the concert at a cost of $4.25 for ABAC students and $5 for the general public. Items on the menu include southern fried chicken, tossed salad, potato salad, barbecued pork sandwiches, baked beans, coleslaw, corn on the cob, apple cobbler, cookies, brownies, lemonade, and sweet tea. Lunch is optional; anyone may come to hear the concert at no charge.
