Parrish, an animal science major, is the daughter of Patricia Patrick and James K. Parrish. She received a Daren Brownlow Memorial Scholarship at last year's Honors Day Ceremony. Parrish has a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Eight other Awards of Distinction were presented to the students with the greatest overall positive impact in each division, both academically and through college service. Eustace W. Griffin of Hoboken received the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources Award of Distinction. Griffin also received the Agriculture Four-Year Divisional Discipline Award. Lisa J. Owens of North Wales received the Award of Distinction for the Division of Business Administration and a $250 award from the Georgia Society of CPA's. Jonathan Palmer of Tifton received the Award of Distinction for the Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. The Award of Distinction for the Division of Humanities went to Erin Young of Fitzgerald. Young also received the Theatre Divisional Discipline Award.
Erin Tanner of Alma received the Award of Distinction for the Division of Science and Mathematics. The Award of Distinction for the Division of Nursing went to Maranda Ahrensof Adel. Shannon D. Barron of Covington received the Award of Distinction for the Division of Social Science. The Cooperative Degree Award went to Bobby Stephen Tucker of Tifton, a graduate with the A.A.S. Cooperative Degree in electronic technology from Moultrie Technical College. This award is presented to a student who successfully completes work in a joint degree program from a technical college and at ABAC.
A total of 33 Divisional Discipline awards were presented to students who excelled in their disciplines. In the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources, the Agriculture Business Technology award went to Gregory J. Harrell of Norman Park. The Divisional Discipline award for Agricultural Technology--Animal Science went to Angela R. Amerson of Byron. Jim W. Champion of Sylvester received the Agricultural and Industrial Equipment Technology award. The Biological and Agricultural Engineering--Four-Year award went to Jonathan J. Welsh of Mauldin, S.C.
Crystal R. Akins of Dalton received the Environmental Horticulture Technology--Landscape Design and Grounds Management award. The Environmental Horticulture Technology--Golf Club Management award went to Michael E. Sweigart of Roswell. Helen B. Southard of Waycross received the Environmental Horticulture Technology--Ornamental Production award. The Environmental Horticulture Technology--Golf Turf Management award went to Waylon S. Shoemaker of Carrollton.
Seth D. Freeman of Sycamore received the Forest Resources--Four-Year award. The Forest Technology award went to Simon E. Batchelor of Camilla. Kimberly G. Bland of Tifton received the Family and Consumer Sciences--Four-Year award. The Hospitality Management Technology award went to Shannon L. Giager of Tifton. Marissa E. Molina of Axson received the Poultry Science Technology award. The Wildlife Technology award went to Anthony N. Smith of Resaca.
The Divisional Discipline Award in Business Administration went to Marcus E. Owen of Tifton. The Business Information Technology award was received by Sherry Veatch of Sumner. The General Business award went to Derek Graves of Tifton.
Garrett Lightfoot of Tifton received the Divisional Discipline Award for Health and Physical Education.
In Humanities, the Divisional Discipline award in Art was received by Georgia Heinold of Tifton. Jonathan Kennon of Tifton received the English award. The Journalism award went to LeAndrea Nicole Robinson of Tifton. Joanie M. Padgett of Fitzgerald received the Music award, and the Spanish award went to Katherine Pierzchajlo of Tifton.
In the Division of Science and Mathematics, the Divisional Discipline award in Biology was received by Ashley McMillan of Tifton; Linda Nhu of Tifton received the Chemistry award.
Social Science Divisional Discipline Awards went to Bryan S. Bridges of Sylvester in Behavioral Science; Susan M. Vaughn of Sylvester in Criminal Justice; and Anna Marie B. Brown of Ashburn in Early Childhood/Middle Grades Education. Robert L. Walker of Ocilla received the History/Political Science award. The Human Services Technology award went to Connie Burgess of Fitzgerald. Julia D. Lumsden of Sycamore received the P-12/Secondary Education award.
