ABAC AMBASSADORS SELECTED FOR 2002-03

Students serving as Ambassadors include Laura Bland, a freshman undeclared major from Tifton; Deisy Del Toro, a freshman law major from Gainesville; Mary Beth DeMott, a sophomore family and consumer sciences education major from Moultrie; Amanda Hayes, a freshman communications major from Lenox; Joel McKie, a sophomore agri-business major from Abbeville; Kevin Mitchell, a freshman political science major from Ocilla; and Matthew North, a freshman business administration major from Hahira.
Also serving as ABAC Ambassadors are Erick Palacios, a freshman business administration major from Cedartown; Jennifer Raynor, a freshman business administration major from Fitzgerald; C. J. Robinson, a freshman nursing major from Omega; Judy Shiflet, a freshman business major from Tifton; Trisha Stephens, a freshman agriculture education major from Tifton; and Brett Tucker, a sophomore agricultural engineering major from Ocilla.
Tucker serves as president; Stephens, vice-president; Raynor, secretary; and DeMott, treasurer of the organization. McKie serves as parliamentarian, and North is the chair of the Ambassador Archives Committee.
Through a process involving application, letters of recommendation, and interviews, college administrators choose students whom they believe to be motivated and who show leadership potential to serve as Ambassadors.
The Ambassadors assist the offices of public relations and admissions, representing and promoting the college at a variety of community and college events. They work to maintain positive relationships between students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community.
To continue in the organization, students must maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale and commit at least 30 hours per semester to their service as Ambassadors. Ambassador advisors are Director of Public Relations Mike Chason, Public Relations Administrative Assistant Pam Leonard, and Admissions Counselor Bruce Applewhite.
