ABAC FACULTY MEMBERS RECEIVE TENURE

          The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia recently approved the tenure of three faculty members at Abraham Baldwin College effective fall semester 2001. Those receiving tenure are Jerry Edwards, Dr. John Settimi, and Vicki Walker.

          Edwards, assistant professor of mathematics, has been an ABAC faculty member since 1993. He holds an M.S. in System Management from the University of Southern California and a B.S. in Engineering from the United States Military Academy.

          Settimi, assistant professor of agronomy, earned his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University, his M.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin--Madison, and his B.S. degree from Colorado State University--Fort Collins. He has taught in ABAC's Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources since 1996.

          Walker, assistant professor of reading in the Division of Humanities, has taught at ABAC since 1993. She received her M.Ed. in Reading from Valdosta State University and her B.A. in English from LaGrange College.

          Tenure may be granted to a faculty member who has served at least five years as an assistant professor and has shown a potential for making significant contributions to the college and in the professor's field. Tenure also recognizes the professor as a permanent member of the college faculty.
