The tradition continues this year with the 30th annual Dollars for Scholars show on May 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Donaldson Dining Hall. The event is sponsored by the ABAC Foundation.
Tickets to Dollars for Scholars are $125 each. A portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible. For ticket information, call the ABAC Foundation at (229) 386-3265. All tickets must be purchased in advance.
This year's benefit will feature country music superstar Ronnie Milsap. His 40 number one hits, six Grammy awards, and eight Country Music Association awards underscore his position as one of the best-loved and most enduring artists in country music history.
ABAC Foundation President Melvin Merrill said ticket sales are going well.
"We have received an excellent response and continue to do so," Merrill said. "Milsap is a well-known name, and people are interested in seeing him perform. He also appeals to a good cross-section of the community; people of all ages have expressed interest. In fact, some people said they bought tickets this year because Milsap is the performer and this is the first time they have attended a Dollars for Scholars event."
The Dollars for Scholars banquet, which is prepared by Chef and Food Services Director B. J. Smith and her ARAMark staff, has received praise for its excellence. The menu for this year's event promises to be as appetizing as ever.
