Academy Director Tim Dorminey said that Alan Girsch of the Valdosta Police Department received the Overall Achievement Award for the 176th session. He also earned theAcademic Achievement Award and the first place award for Firearms. Aaron P. Kirk of the Valdosta Police Department received second place for Academics. He also received the second place award for Firearms. Steven L. Ross of the Valdosta Police Department served as president of the class.
Capt. J. D. Yeager of the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office was the guest speaker at the graduation ceremony.
Other graduates included Brendon Browning, Andrew DeCoff, Larold G. Dent, David Hamilton, and Cheryl D. Sample of the Albany Police Department; Ron Dillard and Ashley S. Posey of the Thomasville Police Department; Thea M. Edmunds and Ronald E. Kirk of theCamilla Police Department; Frank E. Gay, Jr. of the Moultrie Police Department; Charles Keene of the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office; Gregory R. McMillan and Travis Martin of the Decatur County Sheriff's Office; Lynwood O. Pleasant, II of the Valdosta Police Department; Paul S. Stillson and Marvin Taylor of the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office; and Jon Nijem of Hahira and Agnes M. Robey of Valdosta, who were both sponsored by the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office.
The Regional Police Academy regularly holds multi-week intensive training sessions designed to acquaint officers with state-of-the-art law enforcement techniques. The Academy operates in cooperation with the Division of Social Science at ABAC.
