All of ABAC's musical groups will participate in the concert, including the Brass Quintet and the Jazz Ensemble, both directed by Don Coates; the Concert Band, directed by Eugene Wyles; and the Concert Choir and the Jazz Choir, both directed by Wayne Jones.
The Concert Band will perform "Zacatecas," a Mexican march; excerpts from the Rogers and Hammerstein musical, Carousel; and the John Phillips Sousa classic, "The Washington Post March." The Concert Choir will also join the Concert Band to perform "Let Freedom Ring," a medley of patriotic songs.
The Jazz Ensemble will perform "Blue Hue," "Fascinating Rhythm," "Kristi's Waltz," "Lover Man (Oh, Where Can You Be?)" and "Let's Face the Music and Dance."
Selections by the Jazz Choir include the Stevie Wonder hit, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours," "Down at Poco Locos," "Saturday Night Fish Fry," and a medley of the jazz tunes "It Don't Mean a Thing" and "Sing, Sing, Sing."
Lunch will be provided at a cost of $5 during the concert. Items on the menu include fried chicken, barbecued pork sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, corn on the cob, rolls, biscuits, peach cobbler, cookies, brownies, lemonade, and iced tea. Lunch is optional; anyone may come to hear the concert at no charge.
