ABAC STUDENTS AWARDED FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

          Thirteen Abraham Baldwin College students were recently awarded ABAC Foundation Scholarships for the 2001-02 academic year through the Foundation Scholars Program.

          The program provides scholarships to the top three honor graduates from eight local counties: Berrien, Ben Hill, Colquitt, Cook, Irwin, Tift, Turner, and Worth. If any of the top three students chooses not to attend ABAC, the scholarship is available to three of the top five graduates. The students received scholarships in the amount of $1,750 to be divided equally among two semesters of attendance.

          Students receiving scholarships included Anna B. Haire, a communications major from Sylvester; Pamela A. Smith, a secondary education major from Omega; Charity Monk, an accounting major from Ocilla; Christopher Stripling, an agricultural engineering major from Ocilla; Jennifer Melton, a business administration major from Alapaha; Christina Taylor, an early childhood education major from Nashville; and Amanda Lewis, a pre-pharmacy major from Ashburn.

          Other students receiving Foundation Scholarships included Kim Fincher, a pre-medicine major from Sylvester; Kim Fender, an undeclared major from Lenox; Leanne Wood, a nursing major from Adel; Allison Whitehead, an education major from Ashburn; Shellie A. Story, a nursing major from Sycamore; and Amanda K. Richards, a music major from Chula.

          The scholarships cover tuition and fees for two semesters of full-time enrollment provided the students maintain a 3.0 grade point average each semester. They are funded by the ABAC Foundation.
