JCB, INC. DONATES EQUIPMENT TO ABAC

JCB, Inc. of Savannah recently donated 20 engines and three transmissions to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources. The engines came from construction equipment, such as tractor loader backhoes, excavators, wheel loaders, and telescopic lift trucks.

Harold K. Wimber, III, a technical/warranty specialist for JCB, Inc. and an ABAC alumnus, said he was glad to give something back to the AET program and the Ag Division.

"We had surplus engines so I suggested we donate them to ABAC," Wimber, a native of Soperton, said. "As a former AET president, I was happy to make the donation to the students attending school now. The equipment is modern and will be very beneficial for training purposes."

Jimmy Grubbs, a lab instructor in ABAC's Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources, said the college is very fortunate to receive the donation.

"The engines will serve as training materials for students to use in the labs and classrooms," Grubbs said. "Students can be trained on engines with modern techniques and current components. Having this many engines will also allow more students to train on them than would otherwise be possible. It's a great gift for the Ag Division to receive."
