Legacy
of John Hunt
The entire ABAC Family wishes to express its sympathy to the family of
John Hunt. The ABAC alumnus and member
of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia passed away on
March 19. Services were held at the
“We
have lost a true friend of ABAC,” President Mike Vollmer said. “He meant so much to this institution and so
much to the University System.”
At presstime, no replacement had been named
for Hunt on the Board of Regents.
Forensics Tournament Friday
The Phi Rho Pi Regional Forensics Tournament
will be held on campus Friday through Sunday.
The most talented speakers from two-year colleges throughout the
southeast will be competing in individual events, group interpretation, and
debate. Rounds will be held in several
buildings throughout campus, and everyone is invited to attend. Contact Sheila Hughes at 7219 if you have
questions.

Pedestrian
Mall Dedication Saturday
The
dedication ceremony for the first phase of the Pedestrian Mall at ABAC will
take place at
The Pedestrian Mall is a 15-feet wide brick
walkway through the center of campus that will eventually be lined with every
tree, shrub, and flower native to the state of

bricks, benches, lamp posts, and family seating areas on the Mall. She said
these people will be recognized as the ceremony moves from in front of the Dining
Hall to the grand opening of the fountain at the

Wins Speech Showcase
Congratulations to Elton Baldy, winner of the 34th annual Lew
Akin Spring Speech Showcase. Baldy won
with an information speech on the beef industry. The professors of Communications 1100 would
like to thank the judges who gave up valuable time to assist with the
showcase. They were Dr. Maggie Martin,
Beth Saxon, Kelly Swilley, Julie Conner, Yolanda Emery, Andrea Willis,
Cristella Contreras, Cathy Rogers, Annie Sims, Cindy Jones, Paul Miller, and
Mary Jane Rootes.

Scott and Julie Bullington are the proud
parents of a new daughter born on March 19.
Josie Charlene weighed six pounds, four ounces and was 19 ¼ inches long. Grandparents are Delmer and Ellen Bullington.
Murray and Shirley Fender are the proud
grandparents of new grandson born on March 20.
Ethan Rhett Griggs weighed six pounds, 15.3 ounces and was 19 inches
long. Parents are Jacob and Becky
Griggs.

Dr. Hal Henderson, professor emeritus
of political science, recently completed an article on former governor Eugene
Talmadge for the New Georgia Encyclopedia. He has previously completed articles on the
1966 gubernatorial election, former congressman “Bo” Callaway, and former
governors Ellis Arnall, Melvin Thompson, and Ernest Vandiver.
