Laurel Higginbotham, a freshman pre-dentistry
major from Baxley, made ABAC her state college of choice for the small size
and great academic reputation the college offered.
“ABAC has quickly
become home for me. Being from a small town, I was afraid I would get lost
in the crowd,” Higginbotham said. “The people at ABAC including professors,
staff and my class mates are so encouraging and friendly.”
In addition to
serving as an ABAC ambassador, Higginbotham is a member of the collegiate
4-Hchapter. She also enjoys serving as a big sister in the Big Brothers Big
Sisters organization in Tifton. With such a busy schedule Higginbotham has
learned the importance of time management.
“I have learned
very quickly that I have to make a schedule,” Higginbotham said. “I have to
carefully budget adequate time for studying, the activities I’m involved in
and of course time to hang out with all my new friends I’ve made while at
ABAC.
After completing her
associate degree at ABAC she plans to transfer to complete her bachelor and
hopefully attend dental school and specialize in orthodontics.
Higginbotham tries to live her life like her favorite quote
by Audrey Hepburn “For attractive lips, speak words of
kindness, for lovely eyes seek out the good in people, for a
slim figure share your food with the hungry, and for poise
walk with the knowledge you will never walk alone.”
