For IMMEDIATE Release September 24, 2009
TWO
HEALTH CARE FORUMS AT ABAC SEPTEMBER 29 - 30
TIFTON—Two forums regarding national health care will be held at
Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Sept. 29 – 30. The first forum will take
place Sept. 29 from 6-8 p.m. and the second will run from noon until 2 p.m. on
Sept. 30. Both forums will be located in Bowen Hall, Room 101.
The
Tift County Republican and Democratic parties and the ABAC Political Science
Club and Young Democrats are sponsoring the forums.
“This kind of forum features a different kind
of talk,” Jill Severn, director of the Russell Forum for Civic Life in Georgia,
said in an article in the “Tifton Gazette”.
“The
Tifton forums are more about ‘This is what I want and
why and I’d like to hear what you think and why’”, Severn said in the
story. “This is the path that most often
leads to real progress on complex and tough issues.”
The
forums will be moderated neutrally by Severn and Dr. Margaret Holt, National
Issues Forum associate and professor emeritus of the Adult Education program in
the UGA College of Education.
