SEVENTEEN GRADUATE FROM POLICE ACADEMY AT ABAC
TIFTON—Seventeen individuals from the South Georgia area recently received certificates at graduation exercises for the 235th session of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) Regional Police Academy at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Academy Director Marty Smith said the Overall Achievement award for the session was awarded to Jeffrey K. Lightsey of the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office. Lightsey also received first place in Academics and Firearms. Second place in Academics was awarded to Caleb M. Lancaster of the Waycross Police Department. Thomas L. Rothwell of McRae, sponsored by the GPSTC, received second place in Firearms. The president of the 235th session was William Hampton of Lakeland, sponsored by the GPSTC.
Other graduates included James L. Holcombe of the Adel Police Department; Mark S. Parr of the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office; John T. Flener, Jr., of Fitzgerald, sponsored by the GPSTC; Moncayo R. Flournoy and Elvin L. Kerr, Jr., of the Moultrie Police Department; Anthony P. Wright of the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport; Richard D. Purvis of Tifton, sponsored by the GPSTC; Bucky V. Griffin, Terrence A. Hines, Ellen N. Marion, Robert L. Miller, and Garrett G. Mizell of the Valdosta Police Department; and Corey S. Gay of Waycross, sponsored by the GPSTC.
