NICHOLSON NAMED
VICE PRESIDENT OF ABAC SGA
TIFTON—
Joshua Nicholson, an agriculture education major from Saluda, SC, always knew
politics would be a part of his life so when the opportunity arose to serve as
vice president of the Student Government Association (SGA) at Abraham Baldwin
Agricultural College, he jumped at the chance.
“I
wanted to run for vice president of the SGA because I love ABAC, and I am a
firm believer that if you love something you should give service to it,”
Nicholson said. “ I
wanted to give service to the college and be a good representative to the
student body.
“I
hope to increase student involvement on campus because without that there is
nothing. The little things will fall into place after that.”
Nicholson
chose ABAC due to its atmosphere and small size.
“South
Carolina doesn’t have a lot of agriculture schools, and I liked the family
atmosphere that ABAC has,” said Nicholson.
Besides
serving as vice president of the SGA, Nicholson also is the reporter for the Ag
Business Club and is a writing tutor at the campus Student Success Center.
When
he furthers his education, he hopes to attain a bachelor’s degree in media or
liberal arts.
“I
will either attend the University of Georgia or South Carolina,” Nicholson
said. “ I would
love to work on the public relations side of agriculture as a marketing
representative in advertising or maybe even law. As long as I am in the public
and dealing with people I will be happy.”
The
son of Crystal Young and Ben Nicholson hopes that 10 years from now he is still
in the public eye and involved in politics in some way.
“We
never really know where we will be, but most of the time it is never where we
plan,” Nicholson said.
