Freshman Scholarships AWARDED At ABAC

TIFTONForty-two freshman students have been selected for full tuition scholarships when they enroll at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College for the fall semester thanks to funding from the ABAC Foundation.

Presidential Scholars are Michael Arena, a pharmacy major from Fitzgerald (Fitzgerald High School); Kayla Davenport, a general business major from Hazlehurst (Jeff Davis High School); and Andrea Sweeney, an animal science major from Eatonton (Putnam County High School).  All three Presidential Scholars will receive funds to cover tuition, housing, and food costs.

Ag Alumni Scholarship recipients are Ashley Cochran, an agriculture education major from Dalton (NW Whitfield High School); Breanna Coursey, an agriculture education major from Griffin (Pike County High School); Sarah Donnell, an agriculture education major from Guyton (South Effingham High School); and William Rehberg, a diversified agriculture major from Coolidge (Thomas County Central).

Davis Nursing Scholarship recipients are Shanteria Holley and Lacey Spears, both pre-nursing career majors from Sylvester (Worth County High School).  J. Cain Thurmond, an animal science major from Jefferson (Jefferson High School), received the FFA Officer Scholarship, and the Nancy Clark Coleman Scholarship was awarded to Brittany Trotter, a family and consumer sciences major from Demorest (Habersham County High School).

Tift County High School graduates receiving scholarships are Nan Bostwick, an undeclared major; Victoria Darnell, an undeclared major; Ashley Davis, an undeclared major; Julianne Jones, a pharmacy major; Molly Pafford, an undeclared major; Jacee Sellers, an undeclared major; Josie Smith, an undeclared major; and Elizabeth Wiggins, an engineering major. 

Scholarship recipients from Ocilla include Anna Denney, an undeclared major; Holly Hickey, a biology major; and Diana Moore, a business administration major.  All three graduated from Irwin County High School.  Fitzgerald students receiving scholarships are Elisabeth O’Quinn, interior design major; and Erin O’Quinn, web technologies major, both from the O’Quinn Home School; and Ashley Bohannon, an undeclared major from Fitzgerald High School.

Also receiving scholarships are Ashley Cochran and Jessie Sewell, agriculture education majors from Dalton (NW Whitfield High School); Savannah Brown, a medicine major from Wray (Citizens Christian Academy); Cameron Clark, an engineering major from Wrens (Jefferson County High School); Stacey Holbrook, an agriculture education major from Nashville (Berrien High School); Savannah Hegwood, an early childhood education major from Hartsfield (Colquitt County High School); Katie Kimbrell, an undeclared major from Moultrie (Colquitt County High School); and Rachel King, a forest resources transfer major from Eatonton (Putnam County High School).

Other scholarship recipients include Milton Mejia, a plant science major from Pelham (Pelham High School); Valerie Noles, an agriculture education major from Statesboro (SE Bulloch High School); Nicholas Rawlings, an engineering major from Colquitt (Miller County High School); and Haley Skipper, an agriculture major from Macon (Windsor Academy).

Also receiving scholarships are Katherine Thigpen, an agriculture communications major from Folkston (Charlton County High School); DarylAnne Thompson, a nursing major from Perry (Westfield School); Tiffany Walker, an agriculture education major from Chickamauga (Ridgeland High School); Holly Ward, a history major from Jakin (Seminole County High School) and Tamzy Whittle, an accounting major from Thomaston (Flint River Academy).

The ABAC application deadline for the fall semester is Aug. 1. Classes begin Aug. 17.
