ROYAL TO PERFORM SOPHOMORE MUSIC RECITAL APRIL 28

TIFTON - Meagan Leigh Royal, a mezzo-soprano, will present a vocal recital on April 28 in the Chapel of All Faiths at 7 p.m. on the campus of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. She has been studying voice with Dr. Susan Roe, Associate Professor of Voice, during her tenure at ABAC.

“I will sorely miss teaching her voice as well as her personality and what she has brought to my vocal studio,” Roe said.  “I look forward with confidence to her future and what she will accomplish in the music world.”

Royal, a music major from Tifton, has been accepted to the School of Music at Valdosta State University. She is receiving a major scholarship in voice to continue her training with Dr. David Johnson as she completes her degree in voice performance.

An integral member of the ABAC Concert Choir, Royal also performs with the Chamber Singers and Jazz Choir. She recently returned from a singing tour with the ABAC Jazz Choir at Walt Disney World.

In her recital, Royal will exhibit a variety of vocal techniques with a very versatile repertoire.  The recital will include operatic arias such as “Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta voixfrom Samson and Delilah by Saint-Saëns and Mozart’s “Non so piu cosa son” from Le Nozze di Figaro, as well as an oratorio aria, “O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings To Zion” from Handel’s Messiah.

She will also perform art songs from the Baroque and Romantic periods of music in German, French, and English, and a Broadway show tune duet from Jekyll and Hyde. She will end her recital with Malotte’s “Lord’s Prayer”.

The event is open to anyone who would like to attend at no charge.
