NEW DEANS NAMED FOR ABAC SCHOOLS OF STUDY
TIFTON – Six deans
have been named in conjunction with the establishment of the new academic
schools of study at Abraham
Baldwin Agricultural
College. The new schools
include Agriculture and Natural Resources, Business, Health Sciences, Human
Services, Liberal Arts, and Science and Mathematics.
“The
Deans are at the forefront of creating the academic path forward into the
future for the college,” said Dr. Niles Reddick, Vice President of Academic
Affairs at ABAC. “Their collective experience as faculty and administrators
allows for a smooth transition.”
The
Dean for the School
of Agriculture and
Natural Resources is Dr. Tim Marshall. Marshall, who lives in Adel, received
his associate degree in Agriculture from ABAC in 1977 and a bachelor’s degree in
Animal Sciences from the University
of Georgia. He then received his master’s degree in Beef
Cattle Management and a doctorate in Beef Genetics from the University of Florida.
Marshall has
served as Chair of the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources at ABAC
since 2006.
Dr. Jeff Gibbs
will serve as Dean of the School
of Business. Gibbs has
been a faculty member at ABAC since 1991, when he was named Chair of the
Division of Business Administration. He received his bachelor’s and master’s
degrees in Economics and his Ed.D. degree from the University of Georgia.
Wanda Golden has
been named the Dean of the School
of Health Sciences.
Golden earned her associate degree in Nursing from ABAC, and her BSN and MSN
degrees from Valdosta
State University.
She has been at ABAC as an instructor since 1999, serving as chair of the
Division of Nursing since 2000.
The Dean for the
School of Liberal Arts is Dr. Bobbie
Robinson. Robinson has served as Chair
of the ABAC Division of Humanities since 2002. She was an ABAC faculty member
from 1976-79 and returned to the college faculty in 1992. She received her Ph.D. in English from Baylor University
and an M.A. degree in history, an M.A. degree in English, and a B.A. degree in
English from Valdosta
State University.
Dr. Ray Barber
will serve as the Dean of the School
of Science and
Mathematics. He has been the Chair of
the Division of Science and Mathematics since 1998 and an ABAC faculty member
for 31 years. Barber received a B.S. degree in Biological Science and his M.S.
in Zoology (Physiology) from Auburn
University. He earned a doctorate degree in Science
Education from the University
of Georgia.
Dr. Darby Sewell
will serve as Interim Dean for the School
of Human Services.
Sewell, who lives in Moultrie,
joined the ABAC faculty in 2002. She is
an ABAC alumna who went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Family and
Consumer Sciences from the University
of Georgia in 2000 and
her master’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from UGA in 2001.
She earned her doctorate degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from Iowa State
University.
Reddick said the
appointment of the deans of the new schools of study became effective April 1.
