ABAC FOUNDATION INDUCTS NEW PRESIDENT’S CLUB MEMBERS

TIFTON—Fifteen new members were recently inducted into the prestigious President’s Club at the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Centennial Gala.

ABAC President David Bridges thanked the new members for their support of the college and emphasized how important their contributions are for the life of the college.

“The days of depending completely on the state budget to take care of all the needs of ABAC are over,” Bridges said.  “We appreciate very much our dollars from Atlanta but private support is absolutely essential for ABAC to become Georgia’s State College of Choice.”

New members include Mr. and Mrs. H. Lane Dennard, Jr., of Atlanta; Teresa Coarsey Lasseter, Mr. and Mrs. S. Louis Perry, Jr., and Mr. James H. Tillman of Moultrie; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Perry of Valdosta, Mr. and Mrs. J. Carson Bowen, III, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Conner Bowen, Mr. David Shawn Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Richard B. Golden, Mr. and Mrs. Roger L. Nalls, Dr. and Mrs. Niles Reddick,  Ann T. Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Tyron Spearman, all of Tifton; Dr. Julian H. Atkinson of West Lafayette, Ind., and Mr. and Mrs. John E. Downs of Marianna, Fla.

The ABAC Jazz Choir under the direction of Dr. Susan Roe performed at the gala.  Three students from the Jazz Choir receiving scholarships funded by donations to the ABAC Foundation expressed their appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the members of the audience. Each President’s Club member contributed or pledged at least $10,000 to the ABAC Foundation or had a planned gift of at least $25,000.

Members of the President’s Club provide the nucleus of private support to ABAC. Their gifts represent 75 percent of the ABAC Foundation’s support from individuals.

For more information on the President’s Club and the support it provides for ABAC students, interested persons can contact Betty McCorvey with the ABAC Foundation at (229) 391-4896.
