ABAC vs Wallace Dothan CC 2/25/12 GAME 2 Needing a win to even up the season series ABAC sent freshman O’Neal Jones to the mound for his first collegiate start. The Stallions needed Jones to deliver and he delivered a gem. Jones aloud a single and a walk in the first and that was the only threat he would face the entire game. In the second inning the lead off batter singled but was quickly erased as Jones induced a 5-4-3 double play. Another lone single in the third for the Govs would be the last base runner they would have the rest of the day. Jones went the remaining four innings without giving up a hit and recording eight ground ball outs. The defense was spectacular behind the great pitching performance committing no errors. On offense the Stallions sputtered the entire game getting only one hit the entire ball game and striking out nine times. The only runs in the entire game came in the second inning for the Stallions. Cam Cain led off with a single up the middle and was followed by DJ Wilson who drew a 0-2 HBP. A failed sacrifice attempt left the runners at first and second for Cedric Daniel. Daniel was hit by the pitch and loaded the bases for Nolan Clark’s RBI walk. Another walk to Billy Hutchins gave the Stallions the two run advantage and Jones made it stick. This game was the perfect example that pitching and defense win ballgames.
