Opened in 1908 as the Second District A&M School, Abraham Baldwin became the South Georgia A&M College in 1925 and the Georgia State College for Men in 1929. In 1933 the institution became a part of the state's 34-unit University System of Georgia. The college was named for Abraham Baldwin, a Georgia signer of the U.S. Constitution and first president of the University of Georgia. |
